Turning thirty was a very inspiring time for me. It was when I decided to really elevate my lifestyle. Taking it from being broke and busy to abundant and productive. The first thing I focused on was updating my living space. Being that we spend most of our time at home, it’s no doubt that it has a huge affect on how we feel about ourselves. Here are 5 simple steps to elevate your home.
ADOPTING A NEUTRAL PALATTE
Designing with a neutral palatte instantly creates a timeless look. It’s no longer about trending colors or trending materials but more about creating a home that is sophisticated and elegant. Elegance never goes out of style and neither should your home.
LETTING GO AND GOING MINIMAL
If you’ve studied your favorite influencers who appear to have their life together you probably also noticed how clean and minimal their homes are. That’s because once we remove clutter and things that no longer serve a purpose in our lives we are able to make room for things that truly matter.
DESIGNING FOR BEAUTY AND FUNCTION
Along with creating a minimal home, it's important to decorate with function in mind. This means only having select pieces of furniture that actually have a purpose. Having a space that is beautifully designed and serves function is the main goal any designer wants to achieve. If there’s a piece of furniture that’s never used or a decor piece that’s just taking up visual space, you no longer need them in your home.
LARGE ART WORK & MIRRORS
Having family photos is great to have around in moderation. When you want to elevate your space, minimize the personal photos and decorate your walls with large art work or mirrors. I personally love to use abstract art to create a more sophisticated and relaxing feel to your home. Using large mirrors are great for making any home feel larger.
CLEAN SURFACES
It’s important to always keep your surfaces clean and cleared from any clutter. This means your dining table, counter tops, coffee table, nightstands… Having clean counter tops gives an instant feel of cleanliness to a home. No one wants to see your pile of mail or clothes in your home.
______
Allow yourself some grace while transitioning to a new lifestyle. I promise, once you elevate your home everything around you will elevate as well. Your self care routine, your career, your relationships, your confidence. Everything about who you are starts with your home. ♥
